Natalie Imbruglia - Come To Life (2oo9)

Come to Life will be the fourth studio album by Australian singer-songwriter Natalie Imbruglia and will be her first on her own label, Malabar Records. It will be released on Island Records starting from October 2, 2009.

The album has taken nearly four years to complete, with Imbruglia acknowledging to a journalist recently "I get frustrated because I’d like to produce more work...It’s something that bugs me about myself, but I don’t really know any other way. And I’m not motivated by money, so I need to get things done right."[1]

In February 2009 The Sun claimed that Natalie is collaborating with Chris Martin from Coldplay. It was later confirmed by Martin himself and people involved in the recording process. Chris worked with Imbruglia on a "string of tracks".[2][3] Her former husband and Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns has also produced one track for the album. Johns formerly produced "Counting Down the Days", the title track of Imbruglia's third album.[4]

In April 2009 she discussed the direction of the album with an Australian journalist "I feel the same creative buzz I felt when I first started my career...It's just fun and artistic and creative and all the things it should be. There's still a lot of depth to the songs...It just sounds fresher to me. I've tried different things - there's more electronic stuff in there, and that's different for me, more dance beats. There's a freedom overall, and a sense of confidence. It's slightly less introspective ..."[4] The album "combines dark, driving beats and gorgeously wistful ballads".[5]

The song "Lukas", produced by Brian Eno, has been confirmed to be left-off from Coldplay's recording session for the album "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends". Songs "Scars" and "My God" were recorded between 2006 and 2007. It is believed that the former was once considered to be released as a single from the 4th album. A snippet of the song and full instrumental track were posted on Natalie's official MySpace. An early demo of the latter leaked to the Internet in early February 2009. - From Wikipedia
